WHAT CIC IS ALL ABOUT

In an increasingly connected world, the Center for International Curriculum, or CIC, was created ahead of its time. As one of LBUSD’s first magnet programs, since 1982 CIC has emphasized an honors college-prep curriculum taught through an international lens.

The program features a small cohort of students supported by a devoted staff who coordinate on how best to help individuals succeed and are passionate about nurturing their intellectual curiosity. Two Advanced Placement Courses are required, though most take between five and seven, along with other accelerated and honors courses, Japanese, Chinese or Spanish for Native Speakers.

CIC offers flexibility, with many participating in Poly’s nationally recognized sports department and Grammy award-winning music program. Students also work on projects with organizations such as the California Innocence Project and the Port of Long Beach. Alumni have gone into the University of California system, Ivy League schools, and everywhere in between, pursuing careers in politics, law, international relations, and more.
